The Big Drink Debate
Calum Irving spoke about Our Life’s campaign to tackle this important health issue in the North West and how the information gained from the Big Drink Debate 2008 is being used to change attitudes and behaviour towards alcohol.
Alcoholics Anonymous
A member of AA shared the philosophy behind the organisation and the support it provides
MOSAIC – services for young people experiencing problems caused by drugs and alcohol
Hannah and Ange talked about the work of their treatment team, school based team and family team and how these services support carers, parents and the children of alcoholics
The Stepping Stone – Stockport Churches’ drop in service for anyone experiencing problems through drug and alcohol use
Austin Moore, Stockport Centre Church, founder of the Stepping Stone, explained the history of the project and the support provided at the drop-in
Discussion – topics raised by the presentations made
A summary of the discussion about difficulties that people have encountered when trying to support people suffering from alcohol problems, the discussion about licensing issues and the new licensing bill going through parliament and a list of resources
